Yesterday I made the aquaintance (is that spelled correctly? well - we met) of a certain "Bam-Bam".
I got on the wrong side of his "better-than-thou"-attitude/world-view.*
I only ask that, if you have dealings with this guy, please give him my regards.
Nothing unfriendly, I just want him to remember me. Maybe it will help somehow.
*FYI what I did (not)
I have this group of people on Alged, who are mostly high levels trying to raise a support class or an alt.
(You may know a couple of them: Goleem, Disintergrate, Xeno, Newage, Kaze,...and lots of non-regulars)
There is always one or two players in their main class mass-killin mobs and the rest supports as good as possible.
We usually invite all newcomers that ask to join.
Yesterday I was the main tank (Claws) for a couple of hours. Along comes Bam-Bam and gets invited.(medium level, but higher rating)
A bit later I log off Claws in order to work a bit on my combuter. I ask the party if it is ok to leave finder for some leech xp.
Everyone is ok with that or at least doesn't say otherwise. (We always have on or two guys sitting back)
So next time I look at finder's screen he is getting hit by a mob and is no longer in the group, which is still going at it.
I manage to survive and check my "game feedback-tab". Turns out this guy kicked me out. So I look at the chat tab: "dam leechers" and "I kicked him"
I get reinvited by a friend and start explaining to Bam-Bam how things are usually run in this group, telling him I have some work to do and can't always pay attention atm.
He says he didn't know that, and I get back to working on my other computer.
Next thing I know is that I am kicked again.
He says" I can't have leechers, I need fast level-ups, I want to join the Mighty Vikings.
So I told him that he is not making a friend atm, said my farewells to the other two remaining players and logged off.
---
Don't get me wrong, I don't support powerleveling someone who is new to the game and cannot return the favor (=my definition of leeching)
As soon as a player is able to hold his own in a battle in one of his other classes or as one of his alts and therefore can and will repay the favor it is not leeching in my book.
(I hope my attitude is not to far off from what the "code of the order" "dictates"
