Hi Folks,

The upgrade is completed - welcome to the revised OoR Board.

Tons of things are improved and somehow easier to use atm - esp from Moderation and Administration side.

Well - foremost the interface changed a lot - play around a bit if you need (hijack this thread if you want), checkout the options (My Controls) and get yourself familar to the new layout.

Board structure didn't change - it's the same as before.

Excert from the Changelog:
QUOTE
[TOPICS] Online/Offline user indicators in posts
[TOPICS] Multi-Quote- ability to quote more than 1 post at a time
[TOPICS] Ability to search in topics
[TOPICS] Ability to bypass the bad word filter
[TOPICS] Threaded mode view
[TOPICS] Linear plus mode view
...

Knows Issues:

- Image Wrangler isn't compatible with the new Board version - no big deal tho - update soon coming. So you can't upload Images atm - please stay tuned.

- The Textarea is small again (*wink* at Matecuss) - will sort it soon.
- Image Gallery at the frontpage is disabled atm (had not enough time to adopt the new layout).
- RSS Feeds (Game News) doesn't update automatically atm (ran the last fetch some mins ago tho).
- Some Avatars/Smilies are broken (rare).

Aw btw, don't bother about the 'Subscription' option in your control panel - I didn't find yet the button to disable it. No charges planned smile.gif

If you find strange things or need things to be setup differently - please let me know.

yeah yeah... nice for you ohmy.gif)

okay.. I got the way how to use quotes now smile.gif

although I dunno why there is so much fluff for a simple quote... especially the "gänsefüsschen".. don't like them

will check out some other features now

true... feels a bit slower
kaze
Posted it in other section, but will repeat here, what has happened to the knowledge sub-menu in the members section?

Also have access the site using both a 1mb and 2mb connection and can confirm movement between the pages is very slow.

Finally seem to be getting a lot of the following message when navigating around the site:

HTTP 400 Bad Request error pages. Usually happens when posting a message or edit/updating one.
Claws
got a lot faster - however still not as fast as it used to be
Claws
forget my last post - people are dying all over the world whilst I wait for a page
it does not seem to be the build up of a page but the response time of the server (did I mention that i haven't got a clue about programming)
nothing happens for a about half a minute or more and then the page shows up in on piece (i am on regular isdn here - no broadband - at work)
Arcat
Hiya,

Thanks for the input!

- Knowledge is back (was broken permission).
- Quotes don't have the silly icon on the right anymore.

Performance:
- Yeah, there lots of new stuff to setup - caching isn't fully turned on yet.
I have also some issues - but not since I installed the new version.

The server got a full upgrade this week - about 40 componentes (mail, webserver, kernel, db, ..) got upgraded. I need a few days to figure what is the true bottleneck.

Kaze:
Error 400 is bad - argh. Anyone else got these kind of errors?

I need: your Browser + exact version.

Happens regulary (like every other minute) or when doing something special?
Try to clear your cache - chance is you got something in it not compatible with the new version (some old css, etc.). Also logout and in again, maybe your session is sort broken.

Let's see what the logs say..

Hm, no 400 entry.. ?! When did this happen Kaze.
Please note down the exact time when you see such an error - then I can check in the logs what action you did and repeat it.

Performance update:

My other users (some clients) also complain about big drop in performance.
It's like:

- Somethings it's really fast
- Then performance breaks in and you sometimes even wait several seconds (up to 20).

(no they don't use the board, but the webmail + bugtracker and other tools).

Found it.

Rebooting Server now (to regain the lost memory) ...
..then it should be as fast as it was never before. ™

yep its as fast, as before possibly a bit faster now biggrin.gif

Machine just started again.

Two things were def. the main reason for the slowdown.

From overall server memory usage I can't see any other memory hog atm.
Sorry for the troubles.

Wrangler will be back this weekend - maybe a bit earlier.

First time I tried to log in I got an error message. To help out assisting I forgot to copy the message unsure.gif . However second time around I was in.

Also found this message in my history, not sure whether this will assist.

"Sorry, the link that brought you to this page seems to be out of date or broken."
Claws
much faster now biggrin.gif

Found another slowdown today:

Every Avatar was checked for it's correct size when showing a Topic.
I had this disabled at the former version, however didn't get imported to the new Version.

Wrangler: Beta ATM, soon back.

keep up the good work arcat, don't forget we have possible downtime of 12hrs on thursday so plenty time to play biggrin.gif
Any eta on the image wrangler?
Arcat
Hiya,

Wrangler is still in the making.

Some quick notes on the improved reply system:

When you want to quote multiple posts click on the 'Quote' Button below each Post:
The button will turn red and you can next click on any 'Reply' Button.

This will create a new post with the quotes you did select before, very nice if you want to reply to multiple things.

Also - the 'Fast Reply' button is a great addition:
A small textarea opens up and you can type in right away.

Minor.. and last update for today... maybe smile.gif

For Matecuss and all those who felt this Edit window here is too small.
Hit the new toggle size button at the post-toolbar.

Switches the Textarea between xtra-large and normal.
