While this is not the final item, clearly we're getting close to be able to finally transfer our characters over. So, who's going to do it, and where will you go? Personally I'm going to Chaos, and have already established myself there.

I'm undecided yet and would love to hear more comments.

Chaos makes more sense to me due to proper population, but there are more plots and stuff on Order.

Plot reclamations are to start shortly after the transfers - that's why the reclamations haven't been started since VI took over. There will be plots enough for everyone on both shards, and since we get tokens there's a decent chance you'll be able to get Tavu back, if you so desire.

Chaos does, indeed, have more people. Around 100 during the evenings, as opposed to Order's 40. Of course, this also leads to a bit more friction between elements on the server, but that's just to expect. Order, on the other hand, can be a bit finicky due to RP. Sometimes it's hard to know when someone means something, or when they're just roleplaying.

So guess a few days before the reclamation is the actual deadline to make up our minds.

Now if I just would remember which char owned my plot.

Tramsan: Could you login to Chaos and tell me the plot value of the Tavu Masterplot?

The 1s Subplots will suck badly at auctions, but at least Monkee still has Parsinia and Soresha her Lair. Meta and Me will have to get lucky.

Yes i will definitely be transferring some characters over, i havent really thought about chaos / order....

Monkee , Xtra and Keomen will get tokens tho' Xtra's is a little subplot.

The above linked page has been updated with final details, and submissions are now officially being accepted. (They were before, too, just not officially.) A new announcement on the forum says amongst other things "as early as next week - if not sooner."

It turns out we won't get either plot tokens nor novians, after all. Plot tokens I can understand, but no novians really tickles my angry bone. Well, I'll be on Chaos if you need me.


Ps, Arcat, on Blight the Tavy master plot is 9g720s, but since it's owned it might be changed. Looks like a legit number, though. I checked the owners on Chaos, and I can't say I remember seeing any of them. It's quite possible Tavu will be reclaimed, but we will probably not be able to compete for it. You'll probably be able to get a decent sized plot somewhere else, though, without a T5 guildhall taking up all the space.

I gave it a second and third thought.... but I won't create a NA subscription. And therefore I will not reactivate nor transfer metagruen.
Been rather happy atm with WoW again. Somehow I resubbed that recently.
I don't know what would be left as goals for me in HZ.

Regarding plots/lairs: No tokens means competing in the auctions after the plot reclamations. That doesn't bode well for winning a pretty lair like mine, since the current players have had a long time to save up money for it. Rough estimate from trams is that plot reclamations and auctions will be 1 or 2 months after the unity transfers.

Now for my thoughts/plans...

I'd vote for Chaos myself. I'm actually holding a lair on both shards on inactive accounts, and the Order lair is nicer, but... I don't think I can manage the roleplay on Order. I played there a little bit in the past and struggled with it. So realistically it should be Chaos for me. (Unless everyone else wants to go to Order, and you don't make me talk in roleplay language to you!)

Once we've made a decision on the shard, I'll reactivate the account holding that shard's lair and get my characters transferred. I suspect I'll just be flying around occasionally, maybe we can arrange some occasional evenings hunting together, but I'll be waiting for the auctions.

Once the auctions arrive, I'll up the subs so I can hold the current lair in reserve and the bid on my old lair and maybe a few other nice ones, we'll see what happens. After that I can see me logging in to fly around and do some occasional lair building. I might get a plot as well, since you need 2 accounts to run 2 PCs at once anyway.

There's no chance of me returning to being a full time player at this time, I'll just be "occasional". I love my dragoness, but I have loads of content to do in Vanguard (plus the modding!) and nothing left I'm keen to do in HZs except fly around, dig resources and build a lair back up. Though that may take quite a while, even with flying cargo disks and lairs being easier to build now.

@Arcat: I would say the forms/techs mules are more valuable than the spare equipment.

However like you, Arcat and myself are also waiting for more people to speak up before sending in the transfer requests. Someone might have a really good reason for avoiding Chaos and going to Order?

"A question was raise in game this weekend while I was playing regarding what it means to have a subscription.

Please note that a "trial subscription" is not what we mean. We will not transfer characters if all you have on your account is the two-week trial. You must have at least a monthly renewable subscription in order to have characters transfered."

Well, if it would be as at end of 2006 I'd have prefered to go for Order, but now...well I allways refused to go for 2 mmorpg at same time - and don't think I'll change this. And hey the monthly fee is still pretty tough for peeking in once a week for waving around. So as there will be no tranfer for me now, you don't have to mind my old preferences - not sure if it would still be the same with the current player count. So Joaqim, Beleenda, Meleenda and Dinax just continue sleeping for now

Thanks for letting us know your decision. In 2006 I'd also have preferred Order, but the population count is something I think I'll like.
Maurice said earlier to Sor that he's not importing his character as well.


This means for me personally green lights for Chaos - unless someone wants to throw in his/her Veto


Update: I'll be importing ALL guildmules and drop 4 of them after the first month.
That should be more than enough time to trade contents of the mules to another member.

Hmm, well, Joa, if you let your chars keep sleeping *now*, you might never be able to wake them up again. Could one month of maybe-maybe-not playing now be worth the possibility of returning some time in the future?


Also, at this very moment there's ~50 players on Order, and over 100 on Chaos. These numbers are pretty representative.

Not that i'm a former Guildmate and you'd be interested in what i have to say ...

Nonetheless i want to inform you, that i won't resubscribe to HZ - thus not letting any old Unity Character be revived.

To me, HZ was my first step into MMORPGs, i learned a lot, met a lot of nice and helpful - and also a few disgusting and malevolent - players.
I achieved most of what i wanted in HZ (*points at the pin on his chest reading "I soloed Valkor!"*), so there would be no real aim left.

This, and the fact that i see no future for the game with the current owners/developers of HZ, i rather let my chars sleep and get reminded to them in a far future, when i'm old and gray, hopping my grandchildren on my knees.

To all the returners though - hope you get the fun you are hoping for!

Your opinion matters just like everyone else's. So, thanks for letting us know about your plans.
Besides, at this point the original OOR guild is pretty small, so it would be silly of us, not to think about everybody else here.

I really understand your point of view, and soloing Valkor is some impressive gameplay, right there Congrats! hehe

One point however I have to disagree with: The current owners/devs are the original Tulga employees: So it does have a future, even if horribly limited.

@Hag: Hey of course we wanted to know your thoughts, that's why the thread was moved to the general area of the forum.

@Joa: Perhaps you're wiser than me then, I'm going to end up with active subs to 3 MMOs, heh. But I suspect for me it will break down as Vanguard: casual, WoW: one scheduled evening a week, Horizons: occasional. Then there's the Vanguard modding and all the RL stuff... feel free to tell me I'm crazy.


Now something I'm wondering, what exactly is the euphemism "letting the characters sleep" being used for here? Let's be clear about this, there are I think only 3 options:

1) Transfer and maintain active subscription (your amount of actual play time may vary) - your characters are active
2) Transfer then cancel subscription - your characters are inactive but can be returned to if desired in the future
3) Don't transfer - RIP characters, they will almost certainly not be playable in the future

Don't get me wrong, I can understand choosing option 3. Horizons was something we had in the past, we moved on, better to just let it go. Perhaps if I had more willpower I'd do the same, heh.

Personallly though, I'm a dragon-lover and there is no other game with playable dragons. And the lack of transfered novians actually creates game content for me.

Has there actually been any *significant* change since Unity's shutdown?
I've been following the forums for a while but I am not sure about client performance improvements and the like.

Can someone summarize the bigger changes without pointing me to a link to the off. forums )

Biggest change is the rename =)

Another change worth to mention is for sure the Confectioner redesign and the Unity import
There were a couple of minor updates Unity didn't get and after the final takeover, but that's just database tweaks.

There is a new client on Blight with a wholly revamped terrain manager. It increases performance a fair bit, but unfortunately still has some bugs (including CTD bugs) that need to be resolved before it can be put live. In addition to this, there have been several small, but nice changes in it, such as dragon hatchlings being able to glide from heights, and item inscriptions (not descriptions) finally showing up in the item tooltip, etc.

There have been two events since VI took over. One recycled (Halloween) and one brand new (Gnomekindle - Christmas). None of the old, great building/fighting events, but still, they're events!

Apart from these there have been a plethora of other small fixes and changes, and probably something else significant that I have forgotten.

Abstain: 5 (metagruen, Joa, Hagen, Z, Claws)

Well if I said I let my characters sleep it included the chance that they will sleep forever. Well about the willpower, heh plan been to let them sleep and at some it may enter the sleep forever state. Oh well with all the discusion already I am not sure if I am not weakening and jump to option 2) before it's too late.

Think I've changed my mind now after a lot of thought, vanguard seems to be a one way ride to total raiding, which is not for me there is more freedom in Hz, anyway I've opened up a 6 month account on chaos see how it goes also sent email to transfer maurice_wind to new account. lack of decent plots seems the biggest problem, people with overfull vaults and no where to put their stuff. Btw Jamie seems to like playing horizons I'll see how it goes, oh doers anyone have any idea how long it takes?

Your transfer should be handled in a matter of days - sometime in next week, in other words. As for the plots, a lot of them will open up with the plot reclamation that will start some time after the Unity transfers are completed. There are a few plots still where you can put up a Saris manor or so, to unload your vault in the interim. Glad to have you back, Maurice.

And you know you can't let Joa, Bele and Mele just fade away into the night, Joa.

I'm off to singapore again Sunday evening I'll be there about 9 or 10 days, just wondering about my laptop which runs vista, I heard that hz does not support vista, but some people may have managed to do it, has anyone got any experience about this?. Also I had a dragon goldenwing on a seperate account in unity think I'll try to transfer it to the same chaos account. Have one new character opened up on chaos called Ragnaroth just to look around but my RL son Jamie seems to be on that char a lot just now.

moving back to Hz with loosing both guild plots... noth and south balzar? oh no......and then the thing with playtime...how often was i online last months in VG? I dont know how i should handle another mmo sub ?!
On the other hand, loosing all the things reached in Hz in the old days.....even not good....

maybe i overread, but dit VI say how long they will keep the transfer open?

That's right, HZ has lots of problems with Vista. Some people have luck and it runs perfectly, for others it runs haphazardly, for other it doesn't run at all. There is a thread in the hardware forum on community.istaria.com with several different suggestions you can try to make it run.

yes it seems to have stopped working on my laptop now and absolutely nothing has changed, the wqay it was described was to run all the programs from the dos prompt i don't know why he explained but i didn't understansd

deinstalled HZ a long time ago

wonder if i need a new pc to try age of conan...

would love to soar through the sky again, but apart from that...
i think i will not spent any more resources on HZ
because i severely doubt it will live up to the good memories that survived

I received an email saying Soresha, Janesh and all my mules have ben imported. However since HZs doesn't run on Windows Mobile I'll have to wait a little longer before I can fly around once more!

Re VG:

We're all on the EU server, Halgar. Starting continent doesn't matter any more, the new riftway system connects you to all the main cities and adventuring areas, and you'll find yourself hopping between continents. So pick whatever race/class combo you prefer to play.

And if/when you do try it out, ask Arcat to put you into the VG group on this forum.

just transfered my char's over main char's goldenwing(dragon) and maurice_wind atm my main pc is in for repair and cannot get Hz to play on my laptop(vista) sounds like conf will be interesting but need decent storage for that swo waiting for plot auctions have about 35g so should be able to get something reasonable.
